Ag days at Swore Farms
Bannock County Farm Bureau board members sponsored Ag days at Swore Farms in Tyhee.
There were about 1200 4th grade students for the Pocatello area.
The students learned the aspects of running a farm and where their food comes from.
They learned how to milk a cow, make and taste their own butter from cream, pick potatoes, and how to be friendly to the land that provides our food supply.
Farm Bureau board members met with legislators
at Boise on January 27th and 28th and
discussed issues related to the proposed
increase of the State gas tax and vehicle
registration fees. Members also
met with Idaho Fish and Game to discuss
the proposals by Fish and Game to raise
fees for licenses tags and permits and
proposed new fees suggested by that
agency. Other issues discussed
with legislators included issues associated
with water resources and recharge to
the aquifer. There was considerable
discussion regarding the ongoing problem
with wolves and the depredation of livestock
and game animals associated with the
wolves. Legislators briefed the
group on budget cuts that have been
ordered and how that will impact several
State agencies. The week economy
at the State level and nationally is
of grave concern to everyone.
