2004 Farm Bureau Woman Of The Year

Jeanine Cammack of McCammon is Bannock County’s Farm Bureau Woman of the Year.  Jeanine and her husband Reed have been married 54 years and have (3) children, (7) grandchildren and (3) great grandchildren.  They farm 400 irrigated acres in the McCammon area which they currently lease to cattlemen as hay and pasture.  The Cammack’s have owned their farm ground for 27 years and Reed farmed the same ground with his Dad before that.

Jeanine has been a constant source of support for Reed and their family on the farm, at home, with Farm Bureau and with community organizations.  She is a soft spoken, gentle lady, always willing to help with whatever needs to be done and professional in her accomplishments.  She truly represents the model mother, wife, grandmother, friend and Farm Bureau woman.

Jeanine’s husband Reed retired as an insurance salesman for Farm Bureau Insurance after 46 years.  He was also an agency manager during part of his career.  Together, Jeanine and Reed have participated in judging presentations for Farm Bureau, supported YF&R contests, helped with summer picnics and attended numerous conventions and banquets.

Jeanine was the local centennial chairperson for McCammon during the Idaho Centennial celebration and served on the County Centennial Committee.  With financial assistance from the IFFT Foundation, the committee was successful in building Centennial Park at McCammon.  She has served on the local PTO, the Downey Hospital Auxiliary and has been a den leader for scouting.  Jeanine has also served as relief society president in her church.  She and Reed serve on the McCammon Rodeo Grounds Committee.  Reed plows the arena to prepare for the celebration and Jeanine works at the stands.

Following her devoted love of music, Jeanine has been a piano teacher for 52 years.  She plays the organ and the piano and sings for church and community activities.  She has helped with the Jr. High School opera and participated in the Messiah choir.  The Pocatello music club has presented honors to Jeanine as a composer and have performed one of her original pieces.  She has composed and published several songs.  One of the songs Jeanine composed is “Beautiful Idaho” which was written for the year of the Centennial.

Thank you Jeanine Cammack

for representing Farm Bureau Women

and for the good work you do in

our communities !!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE COUNTY BOARD ACTIVITIES

The County Board of Directors met with local politicians to promote Farm Bureau policies and voice concerns related to issues impacting Farm Bureau families.

STATE CONVENTION

Board members attended training sessions and policy meetings at the Idaho Farm Bureau annual convention.

POLICIES

Each year the county Farm Bureau board prepares resolutions to submit to the District Resolutions Committee.  The resolutions are prepared based on information gathered from Farm Bureau members and their families and are intended to reflect the position of members on subjects such as taxes, education, government programs, biotechnology, family and religious life, natural resources, farm labor laws and other issues impacting farm and ranch families.  Policy development is an ongoing effort and new policies are submitted each year in August.  When county policies are reviewed at the District Policy Committee meeting, it is determined whether they will be forwarded to the State Farm Bureau for consideration as State Policy.  The State Committee reviews each policy submitted from the Counties and makes a recommendation to the delegates at the State convention either to adopt as State policy or table the policy.  The delegates (representing every County Farm Bureau in the State) debate the policy and make a decision.  Bannock County Farm Bureau has been very successful in formulating policies, which continue through the review process to become State Policy.  Attached to this newsletter are the policies submitted by the County this year.  Several of these policies have been recommended for adoption and will be debated by the body of delegates at the State Convention November 30th through December 2nd, 2004.  As members of Farm Bureau, each of you are invited to be a part of the policy building process by contacting a member of the County Board of Directors with your ideas for policy.

===============================

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal...  It is for us the living... to be here dedicated to the  great task remaining before us...     That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom...   And that government of the people,     by the people, for the people,

shall not perish from the earth.
